Coherent Beam Combining (CBC)
Civan has developed the ability to coherently combine many laser channels, so that they together function as a single, coherent, laser source. Civan’s Coherent Beam Combining (CBC) technology unlocks high power, high brightness, dynamic control, wavelength flexibility and other unique features. Each of these in their own right have profound potential application advantages in Industrial Materials Processing, Additive Manufacturing, Defense, Biomedical, Sensing and other industries. To meet the tolerances and precision required for implementing CBC technology into robust products and custom solutions, Civan has developed in-house, vertically integrated manufacturing techniques and facilities.
In our CBC approach, a seed laser is injected into a splitting tree - to create multiple identical channels. Each channel is then amplified through a semiconductor or active fiber gain medium. Thereafter, each amplified channel is combined back together based on proprietary methods that leverage custom optical elements, precision alignment , and a robust active phase control system based on Civan’s proprietary algorithms.
