Coherent Beam Combining (CBC)
Civan has developed the ability to coherently combine many laser channels, so that they together function as a single, coherent, laser source. Civan’s Coherent Beam Combining (CBC) technology unlocks high power, high brightness, dynamic control, wavelength flexibility and other unique features. Each of these in their own right have profound potential application advantages in Industrial Materials Processing, Additive Manufacturing, Defense, Biomedical, Sensing and other industries. To meet the tolerances and precision required for implementing CBC technology into robust products and custom solutions, Civan has developed in-house, vertically integrated manufacturing techniques and facilities.   In our CBC approach, a seed laser is injected into a splitting tree - to create multiple identical channels. Each channel is then amplified through a semiconductor or active fiber gain medium. Thereafter, each amplified channel is combined back together based on proprietary methods that leverage custom optical elements, precision alignment , and a robust active phase control system based on Civan’s proprietary algorithms.

Wavelength Versatility
Civan offers Lasers at various different wavelengths. This is achieved through a combination of our technologies, including Fiber Lasers, Diode Lasers, Frequency Conversion, Coherent Beam Combining and Vertical Integration. Laser diodes, which are available in various wavelengths (UV,Vis & IR), are consistently being improved in terms of power, efficiency and beam quality. Civan's dense optical packaging technologies enable High brightness direct diode applications in these wavelength regimes. Fiber Lasers, which are available in the following wavelengths (~ 1um, 1.5um and 2um), have the highest power. Civan also has activities in Frequency conversion to reach 532nm output wavelength (Green). High output power and brightness at these wavelengths represents unique application opportunities that Civan's technology enables.
